Hiking

Hike to Fish

Please note these trips are a maximum of 6 hours in duration.

  • 1 to 4 people – $500*
  • Group rates for groups larger than 4 people are available (additional staff may be required, rates subject to change), please inquire.

* Includes all fishing gear and tackle, if required.

Fly Fishing the Cowboy Trail (Not offered for the 2022 season)

Please note these trips are a maximum of 8 hours in duration (including travel time).

  • 1 - 2 People

* Fly Fishing gear, lunch (including non-alcoholic beverages) and transportation included (Please note transportation is unavailable due to the Covid19 Pandemic).

Backpacking

  • 1 to 4 people – $525 Per Day*
  • Group rates for groups larger than 4 people are available (additional staff may be required, rates subject to change), please inquire.
  • Meals Available for additional charge – Ask for pricing.

* Includes all fishing gear and tackle, if required and all camping permit fees.

Snowshoeing/Winter Hiking

Please note these trips are a maximum of 6 hours in duration.

  • 1 to 4 people – $500*
  • Group rates for groups larger than 4 people are available (additional staff may be required, rates subject to change), please inquire.

 * Includes snowshoes and poles, if required.

What is included with each trip?

  • An Association of Canadian Mountain Guide (ACMG) – Certified Guide (and guiding assistant if required).
  • A full day to an incredible destination (a day is up to 6 hours for hiking, fishing and snowshoe trips).
  • Fly fishing instruction (“Hike to Fish” and "Cowboy Trail" trips only), where appropriate.
  • All fishing gear (“Hike to Fish” trips only, backpacking trips if desired). Fly fishing or Spin casting gear available. Fly-fishing gear includes – 4 wt or 5 wt 8’ – 9’ fly rods, flies and tackle, spinning gear includes 3 piece light/medium action spinning rods and spinning reels.
  • Snowshoes and poles, if desired (Snowshoeing trips only).
  • Transportation for up to 3 guests to and from trailhead from a pre-determined (convenient) location (Please note transportation is unavailable due to the Covid19 Pandemic).
  • An awesome experience.

What is NOT included with each trip?

  • All Personal hiking or backpacking gear (I do have a few items I would be happy to loan out, e.g., packs and hiking poles, tent). Rentals are available upon request.
  • Fishing licenses (for “Hike to Fish” trips only and backpacking trips, if desired).
    • For Provincial Parks, everyone 16 – 64 years of age is required to have a VALID Alberta Sport Fishing License. If you do not have one, I recommend that you go to Alberta Relm and purchase your license online. You will also need to purchase a WIN Card – can be done at the same time. Or you can purchase a license at Canadian Tire (Calgary & Canmore), Walmart, BassPro Shops, Cabelas, Wapiti Sports (Canmore), etc.
    • For National Parks, everyone 16 years of age or older requires a National Park Fishing Permit. A National Park Fishing Permit can be purchased at the Banff or Lake Louise Visitor Centres or Wapiti Sports (Canmore).
  • Park entrance fees (Kananaskis & National Parks), or other associated park fees (gondola ride, etc).
  • Lunch/Snacks/beverages (Bag lunches can be arranged at $18 per person – my cost. 48 hours notice is required. A list of dietary preferences, food allergies must be given at time of order).
  • Backpacking trip meals (Meals are available upon request for an additional charge. Prices will vary – minimum of 1 week notice is required. A list of dietary preferences, food allergies must be given at time of order).
  • After a good trip, a gratuity for your guide is not expected, but always very much appreciated.  It would depend on guide performance and it is totally at your discretion.

Payment, Cancellation, Refund, Liability Waiver and Fitness Policies

  • All prices are in Canadian funds and are subject to change.
  • Full payment required at time of booking.
  • Custom trips/special bookings (e.g. specific permits are required, etc.) are 100% NON REFUNDABLE!
  • If you cancel your trip with more then 7 days notice, all fees (less a 10% transaction fee, any backcountry permit fees and/or campsite booking fees) will be refunded (Please note this is not applicable for custom trips).
  • Cancellation less then 7 days before trip start date results in loss of the entire amount.
  • Cancellations must be received in writing (written letter or email).
  • The Alpine Experience reserves the right to modify or cancel trips due to injury, illness, weather, road conditions, animal advisory, or family emergency, etc. If The Alpine Experience cancels a trip, then all money will be refunded.
  • The Alpine Experience requires that all guests are to read, understand and sign the Liability Waiver prior to commencing any trips. The waiver requires personal, emergency and medical contact information. Waivers will be signed and witnessed in person by one of our guides. It is imperative that you disclose any medical condition(s) that could put your safety or the safety of the guide or others at risk.
  • It is highly recommended that guests purchase medical insurance (if applicable) and traveler’s trip interruption insurance to cover travel costs and trip costs in the event you have to cancel your trip due to personal illness or injury, family emergency or other personal conflicts.
  • It is the responsibility of each participant to be aware of the necessary skill and fitness level for a particular trip. Our guided trips rely heavily on the integrity of each participant to assess his or her skill level and physical condition accurately. When in doubt, please call and discuss this with us! For the protection of yourself and other group members, we reserve the right to deny participation to any unprepared participant at any time of the trip, in which case we cannot offer a refund.
