Rocky Mountain Fishing Adventure

The Canadian Rocky Mountains offer a dramatic landscape and can be the ultimate challenge for the angler.

This adventure takes us up to a glacier fed lake that is surrounded by majestic towering peaks.* These high mountain lakes can be a delight to fish as they are teaming with Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout or Brook Trout. The scenery is so spectacular that the fishing is actually the bonus.

These are some my favourite fishing destinations. In this area, we have numerous lakes to choose from.** I grew up fishing these lakes, and love to fish them to this day. Some destinations offer more of a challenge for experienced anglers, while others are great for beginners. I can accommodate both spin casting and fly fishing. Let me know what you are looking for and I will try to accommodate your needs.

I will meet you at a convenient location in Calgary^ (I can also meet you enroute if traveling from outside of Calgary) where we will review and sign the liability waiver and medical form. After a quick safety briefing, equipment and fishing licence check***, we will depart for our trip. Please note that distances and driving times will vary (approximately  4 - 6 hrs).**** We will have lunch at the lake. At the end of the trip, we will return to where we started.

*This adventure is only available between July 1/16 to October 31.
**For some destinations, guests are expected to be able to hike between 5 - 10 kms (3 - 6 miles) - round trip, with up to 300 - 500 meters  (1000 - 1600 ft) elevation.
***All anglers 16 to 64 years of age are required to possess a valid Alberta Provincial Fishing Licence (Licences can be purchased online at http://www.albertarelm.com).
****Itineraries may vary depending on the time of year and location (Please note, trips may be cancelled due to inclement weather, road conditions, or animal advisories. I will do my best to find a viable alternative destination).
^ All fishing gear and transportation for up to 3 people (if required) is included. Please note transportation is unavailable during the Covid19 Pandemic.

Fly Fishing along the Cowboy Trail

For this trip, we travel down the historic Cowboy Trail to the Oldman River drainage.* This beautiful landscape is situated within the Foothills of the Canadian Rockies and offers awe-inspiring vistas and streams with gin clear water. This is fly fishing at its best.

This trips starts at a local fly shop in Calgary where we get the latest fishing report, purchase a fishing licence** and get any last minute flies and gear for our adventure. We will also review and sign the liability waiver and medical form. After a quick safety briefing, equipment and fishing licence check, we will depart for our trip (I can also meet you enroute if traveling from outside of Calgary). From there, we will drive for approximately 2 - 2.5 hours to the Oldman River drainage (so expect a full day - approximately 8 hrs) where we will gear up and fish for Westslope Cutthroat Trout (and maybe the odd Whitefish & Bull Trout) in some of the most beautiful water in Alberta.*** These are some of my favourite fishing destinations, and I would love to share my knowledge and experience of this area with you. Due to remoteness of this area, I am only able to accommodate 2 anglers.****

*This trip is only available between June 15 to October 31.
