Who We Are

Peter Lebitka, Owner/Guide

Peter has been an avid outdoor enthusiast for most of his life. As a born and raised Calgarian, his passion for the outdoors started at a very young age. When he was 6 years old, his parents enrolled him and his twin brother in the Beavers program with Scouts Canada and he continued with Scouting through Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. His experience with Scouts significantly influenced both his outdoor interests and personal growth. It taught him to be comfortable and confident in the outdoors, provided him with an introduction to environmental stewardship, and allowed him to build lasting friendships. It is with these friends that he continues to enjoy the outdoors with to this day. Over the years, his passion grew and he started hiking, backpacking, backcountry skiing, scuba diving, rock climbing, canoeing, mountain biking and fly fishing. These experiences increased his confidence and enthusiasm, which allowed him to start to introduce others to the outdoors.

When he enrolled in College and University to pursue his education in Physical Education at both Mount Royal College and the University of Calgary, he took many Outdoor Pursuit courses. As he continued with his education at Idaho State University, he was able to volunteer with their Outdoor Program as a Trip Coordinator and whitewater rafting Trip Leader. Within these volunteer roles, he developed a keen interest in whitewater rafting and gained valuable experience in meal planning and preparation, specifically in Dutch oven cooking. Also, he developed skills in managing, motivating and directing group dynamics. Over the course of his studies, he had the great honour and privilege of connecting with experienced outdoor educators, mountaineers, guides and outdoor authors, who have all inspired him and increased his knowledge of the outdoors. His passion continued as he began to travel internationally and was able to hike, climb, fish and explore in many remarkable countries, such as New Zealand, Thailand, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Belize and Nicaragua. It is with this combination of skills and experiences, specifically hiking, backpacking and fly fishing that he will focus his guiding efforts.
